Online EMDR Intensives

for Residents of California & New York

You feel stuck, “off”, and disconnected from yourself.

You are not living the life you desire and traditional approaches aren’t getting to the root of your issue.

Deep down, you know a better quality of life is possible for you. You’re tired of reliving old patterns and cycles. You are tired of feeling stuck and you’re ready for healing that lasts. You are ready to talk about your past as just that, something from your past and not something you keep reliving.

You want to stop surviving and start thriving.

You’re ready to feel well instead of desperate for relief every day. You want to wake up looking forward to the day and excited about your goals instead of insecure. You want more confidence in your relationships as you stop repeating old cycles so you can create relationships that are fulfilling. You’re ready to disengage your triggers and finally let your past be in the past, not the present.

EMDR Intensive Therapy

EMDR Intensive Therapy is a highly effective form of therapy which has been shown to lead to greater symptom reduction in a shorter span of time. Instead of attending weekly or bi weekly therapy, clients receive EMDR Intensive therapy for an allotted amount of time (ex: 3 hrs, 6 hrs or more), which allows them to work through key experiences still causing distress today.

Simply put, EMDR Intensive Therapy can help clients feel better faster.

Developed in 1987, the concept behind EMDR therapy is that when clients focus on traumatic material while experiencing bilateral stimulation (eye movements or tapping their bodies), the severity and high emotional arousal behind the traumatic material decreases.

According to the AIP theory, clients memories of disturbing and overwhelming experiences are frozen in their brain and forms mental and behavioral symptoms. The traumatic memory includes various components including images, sensory feelings, emotions, physical symptoms, urges, thoughts and beliefs which lie in the nervous system, waiting to to be activated and relived, usually without warning by what are called triggers.

EMDR therapy helps clients process and resolve their dysfunctionally stored traumatic experiences and locate the adaptive information (such as: “I survived”, “I’m still here”, “I did the best I could” & “I am good enough”), henceforth finding relief and improved quality of life. Studies discovered that EMDR Intensive therapy provides a secure and successful treatment modality for clients with trauma symptoms and co-occurring challenges (anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, etc).

One study discovered that longer EMDR sessions over a shorter duration of time (3 hrs, 6 hrs, 9 hrs) in PTSD clients supported quicker symptom reduction with similar or increased results as traditional therapy and reduced the risk of clients dropping out before treatment was finished.

EMDR and EMDR Intensive therapy helps clients fully process their traumatic experiences so these experiences no longer cause symptoms and can eventually be recalled without disturbance. EMDR permits adaptive information resolution by creating functional memory.

Over the past 10 years, intensive treatments for trauma have emerged to increase symptom reduction and growth and to support a quicker recovery from PTSD symptoms.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Developed by Francine Shapiro in 1987, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) was created to lighten distress related to unsettling traumatic memories, which is a main symptom in trauma ad PTSD. The concept behind EMDR therapy is that when clients focus on traumatic material while experiencing bilateral stimulation (eye movements or tapping on their bodies), the severity and high emotional arousal behind the traumatic material decreases.

EMDR is a highly effective trauma-focused psychological therapy which, according to international treatment guidelines, is a first line trauma focused therapy for people experiencing symptoms associated with PTSD. Other first line treatments for PTSD are trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and prolonged exposure. EMDR is also effective for various mental health challenges such as: depression, anxiety and eating disorders.

EMDR therapy helps clients fully process their traumatic experiences so these experiences no longer cause symptoms and eventually can be recalled without disturbance. EMDR permits adaptive information resolution by creating functional memory.

EMDR addresses sensory components of mental disturbance, not just the mental components, making it a unique form of treatment since most trauma therapies solely address trauma stored in the mind and not the brain.

Through installing positive resources, adaptive thoughts relative to the trauma such as “I am safe now” “I am good enough and “It wasn’t my fault”, clients are able to develop abilities such as self-sufficiency, a better quality of life and achieving goals.
